Memoir of Rosalie

Rosalie was a gentle and free spirit. She was a little bird, flitting from here and there about the room - interested in what every child and adult was doing and becoming a part of their play or work for a few moments and then on to the next group. She wove an invisible thread around us all with her interest and curiosity. And like a small bird, she didn’t vocalize much, her presence and interest and movement were her language and communication.

Rosalie was a little pixie sprite who loved water and loved to wash her hands at the sink. She especially liked the hand sanitizer and she knew just when the teacher was busy enough so she could fly to the bottle to pump handfuls of the magical liquid.

Rosalie was a tiny little person who never demanded attention but she has left a huge impression on my heart and on the hearts of all the Treefrog Kindergarten children. Her sweet sparkle will be so missed.

Early Childhood scholarship fund

Windsong School is a magical place that Rosalie loved. She loved her teachers, loved to play in the sand, and definitely loved to play in the water. She came home from school with dirty clothes and a huge smile on her face. Windsong allowed Rosalie to experience the magic of childhood, while simultaneously helping her gain skills and confidence.

The teachers and staff members were so welcoming and accepting of Rosalie and they saw what she could do as opposed to seeing what her disabilities were. Rosalie thrived in her short time at Windsong School and Julie and Doug are forever grateful for the impact that Windsong had not only on Rosalie, but also on their family.

To honor Rosalie’s memory, Julie and Doug created an Early Childhood scholarship fund at Windsong School. The hope is that scholarship funds will allow other children to access the magic of Windsong that Rosalie loved so much.
